The aims of this study were to determine the frequency of dialysis and kidney transplantation and to estimate the regularity of comprehensive conservative management (CCM) for patients with kidney failure in Europe. This study uses data from the ERA-EDTA Registry. Additionally, our study included supplemental data from Armenia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Slovenia and additional data from Israel, Italy, Slovakia using other information sources. On the question of extracorporeal hemodialysis in diquat intoxication.

Extracorporeal hemodialyses were carried out in a female patient with severe diquat intoxication. Diquat clearance was on average, 3.17 ml/min. Only 0.84 mg diquat could be eliminated from the blood serum by 11.5 hrs of dialysis. Hemodialysis is therefore not an efficient technique for removing amounts of diquat from the organism that are toxicologically relevant one day after ingestion.

Objectives: The model proposed aims to predict how geometric, transport and operative parameters affect the performances of hollow-fibre membrane modules for haemodialysis, especially solute clearance. Methods: A two-scale approach was used. Preliminarily, dialysate flow and mass transfer around fibre bundles were simulated at Unit Cell level, i.e. in a single periodic unit of the bundle. For a given porosity, both regular lattices (square or hexagonal) and random fibre arrangements were studied. The alteration (delta Z0) of transthoracic electrical impedance (TEI) during extracorporeal hemodialysis (EHD) was investigated in two Groups of patients with acute renal and acute respiratory failure, that differed with respect to the severity of respiratory insufficiency. Group I had moderate respiratory failure (FiO2 0.31 +/- 0.10, PaO2 84 +/- 14 mmHg), and Group II had severe respiratory failure (FiO2 0.75 +/- 0.17, PaO2 77 +/- 14 mmHg). Introduction: The majority of the end-stage renal disease patients begin hemodialysis with the central tunneled catheter as a permanent or bridge vascular access. The procedure of central tunneled catheter insertion can be complicated by exit site bleeding, prolonged tunnel healing, and infection. An imbalance between oxidative processes and antioxidant systems has been widely demonstrated in chronic kidney diseases (CKD). In this study we enrolled 26 healthy subjects, 27 patients with CKD on conservative treatment (CT-CKD) with various degrees of renal failure, and 31 CKD subjects in haemodialysis treatment (HD-CKD), evaluated before and after a standard haemodialysis session.
